What is this all about? Why Colorado?
Stephen Felt, Managing Director of Powder Day Productions, has stated that the mission of this conference is to increase knowledge and access to direct financial support for filmmakers in Colorado, create and expand professional development and networking opportunities, and to promote Colorado as a premier creative hub in the film and television industry.
The Office of Film Television & Media, formerly the Colorado Film Commission, is a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade strives to create a strong state identity, a Top 10 reputation in the film/TV industry, and create significant and sustained investment in the creative sector where creative entrepreneurs and enterprises will flourish. It's their goal for Colorado to “grow its own” creative workforce while capitalizing on the growth of the film/TV industry outside of Hollywood. New incentives in Colorado as of July 2012 include a 20% rebate on qualified expenses plus a loan guarantee program for films. Film, television, commercials and game productions are eligible. Colorado has approximately $4 million available for Fiscal Year July 1, 2012 - June 30, 2013.
Colorado is a magnet for creative talent:
Powder Day Productions' Film Finance Conference will be the premiere event for investors and filmmakers in Colorado. The conference includes valuable seminars for investors and filmmakers to include Federal tax code 181/199 and Colorado's tax credit program for productions in Colorado. Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists will learn about the benefits to their bottom line while supporting the Colorado economy by creating jobs within the entertainment industry and its ancillary services. We plan to also host a fundraiser following the first day’s event with proceeds going to in-state film school scholarships, development funds, finishing funds, and other charitable causes.
